Recalling of a Memory

So its been a long time, guys. Its been around half a year probably since I last blogged.
Today I'm back to bring you guys more of my juicy posts. lol-_-

I want to ask you guys something first. You know that time when you start flashing back on a memory and you start laughing by yourself? Or that time when you just remembered something sad that made your day so gloomy?
In fact remembering those memories could be enhanced or even be recalled by accident.

Before I continue. I want to remind you that I don't I actually know if this is true or not because I only write these things on what I have experienced. I'll try my best to see if this thing is true or not from other sources

When you start remembering on a memory, most of the time you'll do it intentionally by only relying on your brain. The thing is we don't actually realize that most of the time there is something that triggered you on remembering something. Yes, your 5 senses play a big part on remembering things, and to be in fact they can really be the factor stronger than your brain on helping you remembering. (Do you get it?:") I hope you do wkwkwkwkk)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention specifically what kind of memory that I'm recalling. I'm talking about the long term memory of scenes, situation, daily life things. Not memories on learning or something like that.

So I'll list the senses from the strongest in helping you recalling a memory.

1. Smell

The first sense that is really strong is the ability of the nose baby!!!! HEHE
Ever experienced a time when you were cleaning up your room and then you found an old bottle of perfume from 5 years ago or something? When you come to smell it (although its empty, bottles of perfume still have the smell) you suddenly been taken to another dimension of flashbackforias (lol paanda WKWKWKWK) to the time when you always where this perfume and all the things that happened, all the thing you felt when wearing thing perfume.
Its like without even intentionally remembering it, you are automatically dragged into this flashbackforia from this smell.

Or maybe a time when someone wore the perfume of him/her and you suddenly remembered that person, sad, angry, happy, whether you liked it or not.

Not only perfume, the smell of food, drinks, candy, even trash can suddenly make you remember things.

Okay, I've been researching (edan gaya siadeuh).
So I found an article of smells recalling memories saying :
“Smells do bring back memories,” says Dr. Ken Heilman, James E. Rooks Jr. Distinguished Professor Neurology and Health Psychology at the University of Florida and a member of AAN. “Smell goes into the emotional parts of the brain and the memory parts, whereas words go into thinking parts of the brain.” Source

Okay so you guys can see that the smell plays a big part of emotional memories, and for me when I come to feel that emotion all over again, it makes me remember best on what happened and why I felt like that. Why I made smell first is because it helps you remember things chronologically. Maybe because I'm a girl so the emotion memory really helps.

2. Taste

So next is taste.

Have you ever experienced eating a candy from your childhood memories and suddenly you're been thrown back into this euphoria of memories to that time at 7 years old, eating that candy alone in a park? Or something like that WKWKWK

Or probably a time when you taste something really bad and you tasted it again with a feeling that you once hated this and then start remembering that time.
Or maybe tasting something from a party 3 years ago, tasting it again brings you back to that feeling, place and time.

So this 2nd sense is not as good as the first because when you taste something, sometime you're taken to flashbackforia sometimes your not. It depends on the taste that really clings into your memories. And one of the weaknesses of recalling a memory from taste is sometimes you only remember on only the food or drink itself, not what happened in the past.

So I've been researching too (apasi bcd:"))
"However, taste memory initially requires activation of the gustatory system, which, together with several other systems, is involved in codifying the consumption experience. The increasing complexity of the neural gustatory pathway has been demonstrated by evidence that cortical areas also contain information about the pleasing nature or hedonic value of tastants." Soure

And maybe you'd like to read the real research of it HAHAHA soure

3. Hearing

Third party is the hearing.

Ever experienced the time when your childhood songs that you haven't heard for about 7 years suddenly comes up on the radio? This rush of flashbackforia from the time you've been hearing that song like everyday of your childhood suddenly comes.

Or maybe just a simple thing like hearing somebody talk about the past and then it makes you flashback to that time.

But actually, the power of hearing is much more reasonable in songs rather than talking because it kind of has a connection to the emotional memory a bit, not as strong as the smell though. Also, when you hear someone talking, it goes into your short term memory and it doesn't last really long.

And to cover it up I actually can't find a source on this topic (mager aja sih soalnya galangsung keluar).

4. Looking

This is actually the most common thing ever in our lives because everyday, every minute, every second we use our eyes and theres many situation on where you could recall a memory by just looking at something.

For example, looking at an old picture, you remember that day, what happened, everything that has to do with that person on that photo. But there is a weakness to this. If its an old photo of you at the age of 7-10 years old, sometimes its really hard to remember without thinking so bad ahhahahaha.

Or maybe just by looking at a situation of a group of friends or family doing something together and makes you flashback to the times that you were like that to your friends or family.

Or maybe by looking at your old things in your garage and you start remembering what you used to do with those things.

Why I put this sense on the forth position is because its not really strong enough to recall a memory, you only remember little parts of what happened and it has limited time. For example, you can't remember really well starting from 5 years back.

5. Touching

Now this sense actually has a strong relation with the looking sense. Lets get it this way, it'll be more effective to learn when you're writing down something, because you look at it and you move your hands to write it down. (Get what I mean?:"")

Like the example on looking, when you go through your old things, you start wondering does it work like in the old times or does it fit anymore, you let your touch do the rest of the work on remembering the situation of that thing.

For the long term memory of doing something, this sense is the strongest. But when recalling a memory of a situation (long term) its actually kind of weak (maybe). Also its strong for the short term memory.

Okay, so that is what I learned from my experience on recalling a memory of situations etc. If I'm wrong, I would like to say I'm sorry for being such a smartypants. I hope this post entertained and kind of gives you a little dose of knowledge:")
I'm so sorry for the last 3 senses its kind of hard finding something on that topic, because if you search it, what comes out is not relevant to the topic wkwkwkwkwkwkk

I hope I don't  actually remember things.

Wassalam.
